With our expert field team, we check for breaks, cracks, edge chipping and mitre faults that cannot be seen at the production stage.
Full inspection details, together with photographs from our field experts, are sent to you by e-mail.
Tiles taken from randomly selected crates are checked for dimension and thickness. If the measurements fall within the acceptable range, the inspection moves to the second stage. If the deviation exceeds the acceptable range, the faulty tiles are set aside, or the whole lot is cancelled and re-production is requested.
The acceptable dimensional tolerance is 0.20 to 0.25 mm; anything greater is not accepted.
The acceptable thickness tolerance is 0.05 mm; anything greater is referred to our customer for approval.
Producing to dimension is the single most important factor to control. The check is carried out with a measuring tape and a diagonal or steel square. Tiles with a deviation greater than 0.3 mm are treated as faulty and set aside; anything below 0.3 mm is acceptable. For sizes of 80×80 cm and above, which are produced by bridge cutting, the allowance is taken as 1 mm.
Randomly selected tiles are checked with a gloss meter and by visual inspection from our expert field team. Tiles showing dullness, waviness or scratches are removed from the crate. Reference gloss values are shown in the table below. If the tiles meet those values, the inspection moves to the next stage.
Finished material is inspected against the terms agreed between the factory and you, our valued customer. A detailed field report and photographs of the selection are sent to you by e-mail. A sample quality control chart is shown below.
