Vanilla White Turkish marble slab surface, pale white-grey tone with fine grey veining

North Star Marble supplies three light Turkish marbles that buyers often ask about together: Vanilla White, French Vanilla and Vanilla Ice. They look close at first glance, but the ground tone and the pattern are different. This guide explains what each stone looks like, how to tell them apart, and why we use these names.

Vanilla White Turkish marble slab surface, white ground with spider veining

Vanilla White

Vanilla White has a white ground with spider veining. It is the plain, neutral one of the three, a good choice when you want a clean white look with natural veining.

French Vanilla Turkish marble slab surface, white ground with a cloudy, patchy pattern and light pink clouds in places

French Vanilla

French Vanilla also has a white ground, but it has no veining. Instead it has a cloudy, patchy pattern, with light pink clouds here and there. This gives the stone a warmer look than Vanilla White.

Vanilla Ice Turkish marble slab surface, ice-white tone with spider veining

Vanilla Ice

Vanilla Ice has an ice-white tone, which is the main difference from the other two, and it also carries spider veining.

How the three compare

Marble Ground Veining / pattern Overall look
Vanilla White White Spider veining Clean, neutral white
French Vanilla White Cloudy, patchy pattern with light pink clouds in places Warmer white
Vanilla Ice Ice-white tone Spider veining Ice-white

Why Vanilla White, French Vanilla and Vanilla Ice?

Names in natural stone are trade names. They describe how a stone looks, they are not scientific names, and they are not standard across the industry. The same stone can be sold under a different name by another supplier.

In our range, “Vanilla” stands for light stones with a soft tone. The second word then separates the three: Vanilla White is the clean white ground with spider veining, French Vanilla is the white ground with a cloudy pattern and light pink clouds, and Vanilla Ice is the ice-white tone. Because names can differ between suppliers, we always describe the ground and the pattern, and we send photos of the real slabs.

Which one should you choose?

  • Choose Vanilla White for a clean white look with spider veining.
  • Choose French Vanilla if you want a white base with a cloudy pattern and light pink tones.
  • Choose Vanilla Ice if you want an ice-white tone with spider veining.

Marble is a natural stone, so every slab differs a little. Before you order, ask for photos of the actual lot and check that the tone and pattern suit your project across all slabs.
